How take great pictures for hosting your property on Campertunity

So you want to host your property on Campertunity? That’s awesome! You are one step closer to not only showcasing your beautiful land to fellow Canadians, but also making extra income on the side! Who wouldn’t love that?! However, with over 500 campsites for campers to choose from, you need to make your property stand out. Even though we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, when it comes to hosting, first impressions matter! Keep reading to find out tips and tricks to presenting your property and getting those bookings.

First of all, let’s begin with what you’ll need.

1. A DSLR or a smartphone camera to take high quality pictures.
2. A tripod or a stable surface to place your camera to avoid taking blurry or out of frame photos.

Now that you have all you need, keep the following tips in mind.

1. Set up the shot

Before you take pictures of your beautiful property, make sure it’s looking its best. That means mowing the lawn and removing unwanted objects such as broken twigs, leaves etc. If you have a cabin listed, ensure it is looking clean and tidy as well. Remember, you want to make your property look inviting and comfortable for your guests. So make the bed and clean around the cabin to give campers a glimpse into their stay!

For a campsite, set up a tent on your property. This gives some perspective to a photo and gives campers an idea of what the campsite would look like. Don’t have a tent handy? A simple blanket laid out along with some of your friends or family around the campsite can give that same effect. These small details can make a difference in attracting more campers to your property!

2. Lighting matters!

When it comes to photography, lighting makes a huge difference! It can alter the tone and mood of a picture, so keep that in mind when photographing your property. Take advantage of a bright day and let the sun do the work for you. However, avoid taking pictures in direct sunlight as it can create shadows, obstructing the views of your property. In order to ensure balanced lighting, use the “golden hour” — an hour before sunset to capture well lit pictures.

3. Highlight what makes you unique

Show Campertunity users what makes your land unique! Whether it be chickens, horses or even big open fields, campers want to see different activities they can do while camping on your property! If you provide extra services such as ATV riding or canoeing, make sure to show them in your pictures. Include things like nearby attractions, hiking trails and fun activities around your town.

4. Quality over Quantity

The more pictures the better, right? Not always. When listing on Campertunity, hosts are required to upload at least three pictures. Make sure that your first three pictures are attention grabbing and striking, because they are the first thing a user will see when looking at your listing. Too many pictures might be confusing and time consuming to browse, so feature the best looking photographs that accurately showcase the beauty of your land!

With these tips in mind, you are on your way to creating a successful listing on Campertunity. Spring and summer are soon approaching, so go out there and take beautiful pictures of your land! With camping season coming up, these tips are surely going to get campers excited to camp on your property.
